COLORADO SPRINGS DISTRICT 11

We have partnered with District 11 to enhance college and career readiness for student across district high schools (Palmer and Mitchell). This collaboration has led to the establishment and staffing of College & Career Advisors at multiple campuses called The Future Centers. Through this partnership, we provide experienced advisors who work directly with schools in offering support on college applications, financial aid, career exploration & scholarship opportunities. By combining the district’s framework with Peak Ed’s expertise in college and career development, this partnership creates a strong support system for our District 11 scholars. KIDPOWER COLORADO

The mission of Kidpower Colorado is to teach young people ages 3-18 personal safety and confidence-building skills to reduce their risk of abduction, assault, and emotional, physical, and sexual abuse. Our programs are known worldwide for being positive, practical, and developmentally appropriate. Our vision is to work together to create cultures of caring, respect, and safety for all. Kidpower teaches skills that can be used on an everyday basis to help people be safe. Our workshops emphasize experiential, success-based learning, because people who practice skills are more likely to use them effectively when in uncomfortable or threatening situations. For this reason, we ensure that our students successfully practice each concept presented. Skills are taught in a way that is positive and respectful, not scary and overwhelming. Kidpower helps students build confidence and develop skills in their bodies as well as their minds. Teenpower prepares teens to navigate their world with safety and confidence. In workshops divided by gender, teens practice emotional and physical safety skills including: dealing with bullying and peer pressure, learning how to set clear boundaries, managing emotional triggers, preventing violence before it escalates, dealing with conflict, physical self-protection skills to escape an assault, and getting help. Kidpower/Teenpower has partnered with Peak Education for many years and Peak Ed students participate in Teenpower workshops at no charge to the student or family.
