Peak Education Welcomes Incoming Students During Annual Future Scholars Academy

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO — This July, Peak Education officially welcomed its newest cohort of scholars during the annual Future Scholars Academy (FSA), held July 6–17. The two-week immersive program provided 37 incoming middle school students with an inspiring first look at the experiences, mentorship, and opportunities that will guide them throughout their six-year journey with Peak Education.

Designed to prepare students for academic success and personal growth, FSA focused on six core pillars: college exposure, career exploration, leadership development, teamwork, community service, and relationship building.

High‑Impact Learning Experiences

Throughout the two weeks, scholars engaged in interactive, hands-on experiences across the Colorado Springs area:

  • College & Experiential Learning: Scholars took on team‑building challenges at the CSU Pueblo Ropes Course and explored higher education through a campus tour at UCCS.

  • Career Exploration: Week 1 introduced STEM pathways, while Week 2 highlighted healthcare careers. Special thanks to Board Member Dr. Heather Cassidy, who partnered with local medical students to provide hands‑on exposure to health professions—including practicing intubation on simulation mannequins and exploring careers in medicine, counseling, and physical therapy.

  • Community Service & Local History: Scholars supported stewardship efforts with the Rocky Mountain Field Institute (RMFI) and learned about regional history at the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum.

  • Teamwork & Fun: The scholars concluded with a community‑building trip to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.

A Launchpad For Success

"Future Scholars Academy is often where our students begin to see what's possible for themselves. Through service learning, college campus experiences, and connections with career professionals from day one, we help them build confidence, expand their horizons, and recognize that they belong in college and in any space their ambitions take them. Our goal is for every student to leave knowing their future is full of possibilities and that they have the support to achieve it." - Jasmine Rainey, Director of Postsecondary Access and Success

As these scholars begin the upcoming school year, Peak Education looks forward to walking alongside them and their families through graduation and beyond.
