Peak Education to Host “At the Center: Education in the Pikes Peak Region” Featuring Chancellor Sobanet and Mayor Yemi Mobolade

Annual Peak Education community event on September 24 will explore solutions to the regional credential gap, launch the organization’s new CEO, and bring together civic, education, and business leaders.



Peak Education, a long-standing local nonprofit dedicated to empowering students and expanding educational access, announced it will host its annual community event titled “At the Center: Education in the Pikes Peak Region” on Thursday, September 24, 2026.

 

Held at Peak Education’s College & Career Readiness Center, located at 117 S. Wahsatch Ave. in downtown Colorado Springs, the event offers two identical program sessions—a morning session from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. and an evening session from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Both sessions are free and open to the public, though space is limited and advance RSVP is required.

 

The event will bring together community members, business owners, educators, and families for a critical dialogue on closing the growing credential gap in Colorado Springs. The conversation will highlight how schools, employers, and community partners across the Pikes Peak region can work together to expand postsecondary opportunity for every student.

 

Both sessions will feature opening welcoming remarks from prominent local leaders:

  • Morning Session (7:30 AM – 9:30 AM): Welcome by Dr. Jennifer Sobanet, Chancellor of the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs (UCCS).

  • Evening Session (5:30 PM – 7:30 PM): Welcome by Colorado Springs Mayor Yemi Mobolade.


In addition to the official welcome remarks, each session will feature:


  • A Student & Partner Panel: The State of Education in the Pikes Peak Region, offering real-world perspectives on local workforce needs and educational access.

  • The Official Introduction of Peak Education’s New CEO: Andy Long, who brings an extensive background in higher education leadership, enrollment management, and community leadership to Peak Education.

  • A Silent Auction: Raising vital funds directly supporting student programming, college navigation, and mentorship initiatives.

  • Complimentary Refreshments: Light breakfast and refreshments in the morning; light dinner and drinks in the evening.
